Standard Weight Benches
The design of the standard bench is slightly different than that of an Olympic bench. The spacing of the uprights that the barbell sits on are closer on a standard bench than they are on an olympic weight bench. When it comes to doing bench presses you will want to use a standard 1" barbell as opposed to an Olympic barbell if you are lifting with a standard bench.
Standard weight benches are great for youth or beginning lifters. The benches themselves are cheaper than their Olympic counterparts. You will also save money if you need to buy a weight set to go with your bench. The standard barbell weight sets are cheaper than the Olympic weight sets.
